RUM RIVER HEALTH SERVICES, INC.
…A non-profit community-based organization dedicated to advocacy for, and direct provision of, community health education and preventive health care to residents of the rum river area, through the following programs:
PROJECT SOAR (Safe Opportunities, Alternatives, and Resources)
· Youth-sponsored activities, chemical health education, support groups, and assessment and referral to reduce the incidence of problems associated with alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs
· Student assistance teams in area schools.
PROJECT NORTHLAND
· School-based alcohol prevention curriculum for 11-14 year-olds to help delay age of first use and reduce the level of use among youth.
· Parent involvement component.
· Community action component to change community norms, public policies and enforcement of existing laws to delay the age of onset and level of alcohol use among youth.
· Support for youth involvement in community action and leadership activities to address alcohol use issues in the community.
RUM RIVER RECOVERY PLUS
· Chemical dependency services including evaluation, intervention, outpatient evening and day groups, aftercare, and family services to clients age 16 and older.
· Individual and family therapy to address mental health issues:
· Anger management
· Family Conflict Resolution
· Depression and Anxiety
· Eating Disorders
RUM RIVER RECOVERY ALLIANCE
· Assessment, education, referral, and counseling to help pregnant and parenting women avoid drug and alcohol use during pregnancy, and postpartum.
· Resources for women to avoid drug use during pregnancy.
· Women’s support groups.
RUM RIVER WOMEN’S HEALTH PROJECT
· Family planning information, birth control methods, referrals
· Physical exams, pregnancy testing, STD and HIV testing.
· Educational presentations designed for individual groups or organizations.
· Continuing education presentations designed for professionals.
· Educational materials and programming describing the effects of drug use during pregnancy.
TOWARD ZERO DEATHS/BUCKLE-UP TEEN CHALLENGE PROGRAM
· Community-based safe drivers education for adults and teen drivers
· Inter-school competition to improve use of seatbelts, focusing on prom and graduation timeframe.
